Kyler Murray's Heisman Trophy win might make his baseball future murkier, but that didn't stop the A's from saluting the Oklahoma quarterback on social media.
The A's tweeted congratulations to their 2018 first-round draft pick Saturday, paying homage to another dual-sport star with ties to an Oakland franchise.
The green and gold were not the first to compare Murray to 1985 Heisman Trophy winner Bo Jackson, who starred in the NFL for the then-Los Angeles Raiders and in MLB for the Kansas City Royals. Murray channeled Jackson on Twitter last month, and recreated Jackson's iconic photo.
Murray officially followed in Jackson's footsteps Saturday, and could do so further if he decides to pursue an NFL career. If that happens, the Jackson comparisons won't stop any time soon.
