All the Oakland A's needed to snap their three-game losing streak was some home cooking. The A's scored more runs in one game at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum than in three losses in Colorado over the weekend, beating the Toronto Blue Jays 10-0.
Oakland led 4-0 entering the eighth inning, until Stephen Piscotty sparked an offensive outburst with a solo home run. Jonathan Lucroy and Jed Lowrie followed that up with two-run and three-run doubles, respectively, and Khris Davis drove in his second run of the night with an RBI single.
In all, Oakland scored six runs in the eighth inning. The A's only scored four in a three-game sweep at the hands of the Rockies this weekend.
Mark Canha's second-inning solo home run, his 14th of the season, gave Oakland a lead it would not relinquish thanks to solid pitching. Edwin Jackson allowed just three hits in 5 2/3 innings, and struck out five in his 100th career win. Ryan Dull, Lou Trivino, and Jeurys Familia allowed just one baserunner in 2 1/3 combined innings. Ryan Buchter entered the game with a 10-run lead, but gave up a solo homer to Aledmys Diaz in the top of the ninth.
The A's put the game all but out of reach in the third and fourth innings, thanks to a pair of sacrifice flies and Nick Martini's RBI double.
Oakland entered June 16 two games under .500. Since then, the A's are 28-10. They are now just two games back of the Seattle Mariners for the Wild Card, and only five back of the Houston Astros in the AL West.
