OAKLAND – The Oakland A’s outrighted right-handed pitchers Donn Roach, Fernando Rodriguez and J.B. Wendelken, infielders Tyler Ladendorf and Eric Sogard and outfielder Andrew Lambo to Triple-A Nashville, the club announced today.
Ladendorf hit .083 with one RBI over four stints with Oakland and missed the final 6½ weeks of the season with a sprained right wrist. He also batted .234 with a home run and six RBI in 35 games with Nashville.
Lambo appeared in one game for the A’s, grounding out as a pinch hitter on April 7. He hit .255 with four home runs and 30 RBI in 56 games with Nashville before he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in June. Lambo missed the remainder of the season following the diagnosis.
Roach was claimed off waivers from Detroit on Sept. 5 and made one postseason start for Nashville, allowing two runs on five hits in 5.0 innings in the Sounds 7-1 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 4 of the Pacific Coast League Semifinals. He began the season in the Seattle organization and compiled an 8.44 ERA in four relief appearances over two stints with the Mariners. Roach was a combined 9-7 with a 3.86 ERA in 27 games, including 22 starts, with Triple-A Tacoma and Toledo.
Rodriguez was 2-0 with a 4.20 ERA and .210 opponents batting average in 34 games with the A’s before he was placed on the disabled list July 4 with a strained right shoulder. He underwent surgery on the shoulder on Sept. 9 and missed the remainder of the season. Rodriguez has a 3.74 ERA and .198 opponents batting average in 97 relief appearances in three seasons with Oakland.
Sogard missed the entire 2016 season after undergoing surgery on his left knee on April 20. He began the season on the disabled list with a cervical strain and started a rehab assignment with Single-A Stockton on April 11. Sogard went 2-for-7 (.286) in two starts before the rehab assignment was halted. He was acquired by the A’s from San Diego prior to the 2010 season and hit .239 with eight home runs and 105 RBI in 435 games over six seasons with Oakland.
Wendelken compiled a 9.95 ERA and .327 opponents batting average in eight relief appearances over four stints with the A’s before his season ended in late September with a sprained right elbow. He also went 1-4 with five saves and a 4.11 ERA in 39 relief appearances with Nashville.
