On Wednesday night, Beau Taylor belted his second career home run, helping the A's to a 2-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Taylor is being rewarded with another start on Thursday.
The 29-year-old will be behind the plate when the A's open a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim. Taylor will bat ninth in the order.
Mark Canha will also be in the lineup for the second straight game. Canha, 30, will give Stephen Piscotty a night off in right field and bat sixth. Robbie Grossman and Ramón Laureano will handle left and center field.
The A's will employ their usual infield of Matt Olson, Jurickson Profar, Marcus Semien, and Matt Chapman, with Khris Davis serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup.
Right-hander Tanner Anderson will make his fourth career start for Oakland. The 26-year-old is 0-2 with a 4.20 ERA in his three previous starts, all coming this season. This will be his first career game against the Angels.
Los Angeles counters with 23-year-old Griffin Canning. The right-hander has gone 2-4 with a 3.88 ERA in 10 starts this season. This will be his third appearance against the A's in the last month. He allowed a total of five runs on 10 hits in 12 innings in his previous two starts against Oakland.
