The A's will be without top slugger Khris Davis on Friday night as they try to even their series against the Los Angeles Angels.
Davis left Thursday's game after getting hit by a pitch on the left elbow in the seventh inning, although MLB.com's Martín Gallegos reports that the issue is actually more with Davis' hand than his elbow. Mark Canha will fill in as Oakland's designated hitter and bat second.
Meanwhile, Stephen Piscotty and Josh Phegley both return to the A's lineup after getting Thursday night off. Piscotty will hit sixth, while Phegley will bat ninth.
Veteran right-hander Mike Fiers looks to continue a terrific stretch on the mound. The 34-year-old has allowed three runs or fewer in 11 consecutive outings, including seven straight quality starts.
For the season, Fiers is 7-3 with a 4.20 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. However, he has a 5.19 ERA in 12 career games against the Angels, including 11 starts. He has a 5-4 record in those games, with three no decisions.
The Angels will utilize an opener, as right-hander Noe Ramirez gets the start. He will be followed by fellow right-hander Félix Peña, who is 0-2 with an 11.81 ERA in five career games against Oakland, including three starts. For the season, Peña is 5-2 with a 4.68 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
Here are the full lineups for the A's-Angels game, which will be broadcast on NBC Sports California and the MyTeams app. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. PT, with first pitch at 7:07.
