A's Vs. Astros Lineups: Houston Lacking Star Power in Series Opener

OAKLAND - The A's welcome the first-place Houston Astros to the Coliseum on Friday night as the division rivals open a three-game series.

Houston arrives in Oakland seriously shorthanded, as All-Stars José Altuve, Carlos Correa, and George Springer all find themselves on the 10-day injured list. Still, the Astros boast a formidable lineup, featuring sluggers like Alex Bregman, Michael Brantley, and Yuli Gurriel.

The A's will send out the same lineup they've been using the past few games. Robbie Grossman remains in the number two spot, followed by Matt Chapman and Matt Olson. Stephen Piscotty and Mark Canha will hit fifth and sixth, with catcher Josh Phegley in his usual nine hole.

Right-hander Mike Fiers will get the start for Oakland against his former team. The 33-year-old spent three seasons with the Astros from 2015 to 2017. In four career starts against Houston, Fiers is 1-2 with a 7.34 ERA.

Right-hander Brad Peacock will be on the hill for Houston. Peacock, 31, is 3-6 with a 4.45 ERA in 25 career games against Oakland, including 14 starts.

Here are the full lineups for the A's-Astros game, which will be broadcast on NBC Sports California and the MyTeams app. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. PT, with first pitch at 7:07.
