A's Vs. Mariners Lineups: Mark Canha, Chad Pinder in Corner Outfield Spots

OAKLAND -- The A's will be without starting right fielder Stephen Piscotty on Friday night as they open a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners.

Piscotty underwent surgery to remove a melanoma from his right ear on Thursday. The team expects him to return within a week.

Chad Pinder will start in right field in Piscotty's place and bat fifth in the lineup. Pinder is slashing .261/.303/.425 this season with five home runs and 19 RBI.

Meanwhile, Mark Canha will play left field and bat second. Canha has posted a .239/.370/.550 slash line with 10 homers and 19 RBI. First baseman Matt Olson, the only left-handed hitter in the A's lineup, will bat sixth.

Right-hander Chris Bassitt will be on the mound for Oakland, seeking his fourth win of the season against two losses. Bassitt, 30, enters with a 3.57 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in nine starts. In five career games against the Mariners, he is 0-2 with a 3.33 ERA.

Seattle will counter with left-hander Marco Gonzales. The 27-year-old is 6-6 with a 4.77 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 15 starts. He has gone 2-1 with a 3.91 ERA in five career games against the A's.
