Another Giants Win in the Cards

Tuesday's Giants-Cardinals game was billed as a battle between two former Cy Young Award winners...Randy Johnson and Chris Carpenter.  Carpenter was bombed, while Johnson was good enough to lead the Giants to a 6-3 win.

The Big Unit had a solid outing to notch his third win in a row.  You could argue he only made two bad pitches.  Albert Pujols hit two home runs off of Johnson to account for all three Cardinals runs.  Pujols leads the Majors with 30 home runs this season.

Meanwhile, San Francisco's offense got to Carpenter early and often.  He was touched up for two runs in the first inning, and eventually got knocked around for six runs and eleven hits in just five frames.

With the win, the Giants continue to build confidence as a team.  Their surprise start has earned them the second best record in the National League.  The Giants will send another ace to the mound Wednesday evening when Matt Cain faces the Red Birds.
