ALAMEDA – Antonio Brown showed "good retention" of the Raiders offense late in training camp despite missing roughly 10 days while rehabbing frostbitten feet in Florida.
Head coach Jon Gruden and quarterback Derek Carr expressed that sentiment when he first returned for some walk-through work.
He missed the last training camp practice over helmet frustrations, but has been a full participant ever since. That stretch, which now includes two pre-game warmup sessions with Carr and the last three full practices, has helped Brown re-integrate himself into the offensive flow.
He obviously returned in great shape, considering his workout regimen, and hit the ground running, Gruden says, in sessions now predominantly closed to the press.
That was no surprise, considering how much work he was doing while away or not involved in daily practice work.
"We have been in constant contact with him," Gruden said. "With modern technology…I know I don't believe in all of it, but I do believe in iPads and sharing information. He has been all over it. He has had access to our meetings. He has had access to our film and cut-ups, and he has taken advantage of it.
"He's a good player. He'll be great."
