The A's haven't been able to say it until Tuesday, but finally the third time's a charm.
For the first time this season the Athletics have won three games in a row. And the third victory came in come-from-behind fashion.
After getting shut down by Mariners starter Jarrod Washburn for six innings, the A's bats finally came to life against the bullpen. The home team was trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the seventh when Oakland rallied to score four runs.
Jason Giambi had the go-ahead hit as he sent a single up the middle scoring Orlando Cabrera and Kurt Suzuki, giving the A's their first lead of the ball game at 4-3.
That was all they would need as the bullpen held on to beat the Mariners, 4-3. Andrew Bailey pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his second save of the season.
Wednesday the A's will try to accomplish another season first when they go for the three-game series sweep over the Mariners at the Coliseum.
