Aubrey Huff Away ‘On a Personal Matter'

Aubrey Huff is currently missing from the Giants and is dealing with a "personal matter" Bruce Bochy told reporters on Tuesday.

Huff wasn't with the team for either game against the Mets on Monday and afterwards, Bochy explained vaguely why he was away.

"Something very, very important came up,” Bochy said, per Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury-News. “He had to go home."

That "very, very important" thing appears to be a family emergency of sorts, as Bochy explained to reporters on Tuesday

"Aubrey Huff is not here, Bochy said," CSNBayArea.com's Andrew Baggarly tweeted on Tuesday. "Hinted he could be placed on bereavement list."

Per Baggs, Bochy did not speak with Huff but left him a voice message and the two "exchanged texts."

"[Bochy] said [Huff is] handling a personal issue," Baggs tweeted.

Huff's got a pretty good record against some of the Reds pitchers and it would obviously be nice to have him in the lineup against Cincinnati.

But family comes first and everyone involved with the Giants is certainly wishing him the best during what sounds like a tough personal time.
