49ers' Ward, McDonald Leave Seahawks Game With Injuries

SEATTLE – Cornerback Jimmie Ward left the game in the second quarter after going down with a non-contact right leg injury while covering a kickoff.

Ward sustained a quadriceps injury, the team announced. He was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the 49ers' game Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Also, tight end Vance McDonald sustained a hip injury in the first half and did not return to action. The 49ers originally announced in the first half that McDonald was questionable to return. In the third quarter, the determination was made that McDonald would be out for the remainder of the game.

McDonald had two catches for 4 yards before leaving the game. Garrett Celek replaced McDonald in the 49ers' lineup.

Ward, the 49ers' starting cornerback, grabbed his right leg as he went down with 9:34 remaining in the second quarter. Ward required some assistance from the team's medical staff to walk to the sideline.

Keith Reaser replaced Ward in the 49ers' base defense at right cornerback.
