Dez Bryant Has Hairline Fracture, Status Vs 49ers Up in the Air

SANTA CLARA – Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right knee, coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday.

Garrett stopped short of saying that Bryant will be unavailable for Sunday's game against the 49ers at Levi's Stadium a conference call with Area reporters. Bryant underwent an MRI examination that revealed the damage, Garrett said.

"He did not practice today, and we're hopeful that he'll be able to play," Garrett said. "We're taking the situation day-by-day. Hopefully, he can do something tomorrow.

"He has a slight hairline fracture in one of the bones in his knees. We don't think it's something that's going to keep him out for an extended period of time, but it's going to be a day-by-day, week-by-week situation."

Bryant sustained the injury on the second play in the Cowboys' 31-17 victory Sunday night over the Chicago Bears as he was tackled after an 11-yard gain.

He had an injury-plagued 2015 season after sustaining a foot fracture in the opening game of the season. Bryant caught 88 passes for 1,320 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2014.
