Injury Report: 49ers' McDonald, Ward Sit Out Practice

SANTA CLARA -– Tight end Vance McDonald did not take part in 49ers practice Wednesday due to a hip injury. His status for Sunday's game remains in question.

McDonald and cornerback Jimmie Ward, who sustained a right quadriceps strain against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, were the only 49ers who were held out of practice. McDonald's injury also occurred in the first half of Sunday's game.

The 49ers play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at Levi's Stadium. Ward is expected to miss multiple games due to his injury.

Tight end Garrett Celek took part in limited practice Wednesday with a back injury. He took a big hit Sunday from Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor but returned for the 49ers' next series.

Defensive lineman Arik Armstead played just 28 snaps – or 40 percent of the time – against the Seahawks as he nurses an undisclosed shoulder injury.

"I think he missed two or three series just because he had something, but he came back in and said he was fine," 49ers coach Chip Kelly said. "There's no issue. He's not on any lists. He's not missing anything."

Armstead previously said his shoulder condition might require surgery at the end of the season.

On Wednesday, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett revealed to Bay Area reporters that wide receiver Dez Bryant has a hairline fracture in his right knee.
