SANTA CLARA – Coach Chip Kelly meets early every week with 49ers CEO Jed York, but Kelly said the topics of discussion have not extended beyond the current season.
Kelly is at the end of the first year of a four-year contract worth $6 million annually. Jim Tomsula lasted just one season of his four-year contract when the 49ers finished with a 5-11 record in 2015.
The 49ers on Saturday pulled out a 22-21 victory over the Los Angeles Rams to snap a 13-game losing streak and improve to 2-13 on the season.
Kelly had the opportunity to show some rare positive emotions on the sideline as Colin Kaepernick broke the plane of the goal line for a two-point conversion to give the 49ers the lead with 31 seconds remaining.
"Well, we haven't had a lot to show emotion about," Kelly said. "I was happy for our players and excited that all the work they put in had paid off."
Afterward, as is their custom, 49ers co-chair John York and Jed York were at the door of the locker room at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to greet the players and coaches as they returned from the playing field.

Next week, following the 49ers' season finale against the Seattle Seahawks, Kelly and Jed York are expected to sit down and discuss the plan for moving into the 2017 season.
"You would think that's when it would happen, right?" Kelly said on Monday. "We've said the same thing every week."
Does he believe he's coming back for Year 2 with the 49ers?
"I'm concerned with Seattle," Kelly said. "So that's not a discussion, shouldn't be discussed during the season. We'll discuss it after the season."
General manager Trent Baalke's status with the team is expected to be determined shortly after the conclusion of the season, too. Although Jed York has apparently made no decision, it is widely believed the organization will be searching for a new general manager.
If the 49ers make a move at general manager, Kelly's fate might not be determined until the new person in charge of football operations weighs in with his opinion on the current coaching staff.
