Brandon Moss' only All-Star season came in 2014 with the A's. That year, Moss hit 25 home runs and Oakland was hoping Moss could bring that power back to the Bay in 2018 when they brought him back in late January via trade with the Royals.

The reunion may be over before it even started. The A's designated Moss for assignment on Sunday to make room for left-handed pitcher Jairo Labourt on the 40-man roster. Labourt was claimed off waivers from the Reds on Sunday.

"Obviously, I'm excited about it. I'm a little apprehensive. I don't know how it's going to play out. I'm just going to go to spring training and hope that it works out and hope that there is a spot. That's all you can really do as a player," Moss said after the trade.

Moss, 34, batted .207 but added 22 home runs in 2017 with the Royals. He spent three seasons (2012-14) in Oakland, batting .254 and knocking 76 home runs.

Labourt, who turns 24 on March 7, appeared in six games for the Tigers in 2017. Coming out of the bullpen, he went 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA in six innings pitched.
