A's Notes: Oakland Wins Yet Another After a Series-opening Loss

OAKLAND - For such a young team, the A's have demonstrated tremendous resilience this season.

After Friday's win, Oakland is now 9-1 in games following a series-opening loss since June 15. That would explain why the A's have only lost two of their last 21 series.

The Green and Gold demonstrated mental toughness in Friday's victory as well. After squandering an early 5-0 lead, they regrouped and added two more runs, and the bullpen took it from there, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings to finish it out.

--- A's starting pitchers have lasted six innings or fewer in 10 straight games. They have combined for a 6.00 ERA during that stretch.

--- Matt Chapman homered and doubled to give him an MLB-best 22 extra base hits in the month of August, tying the A's franchise record.

--- Stephen Piscotty belted his 19th home run of the season, and is batting .340 with four homers, three doubles, and 10 RBI in his last 12 games.

--- Khris Davis snapped a season-high 0-for-19 skid with an RBI single in the sixth inning. Davis leads MLB with 40 RBI since the All-Star break, and is second with 104 RBI for the season.

--- Oakland finished August 18-9. The A's have had a winning record in April, May, June, July, and August for just the sixth time since moving to Oakland (1971, 1972, 1990, 2003, 2013).

--- The A's improved to 6-8 against the Mariners this season, including a 4-4 mark at home. 13 of the 14 games have been decided by three runs or fewer.

--- Oakland improved to 29-33 against the American League West. Against everyone else? 52-22.

--- The A's remained the only team in MLB that is undefeated when leading after seven innings, improving to 57-0. They are also 66-0 when leading after eight.
