A's Reinstate Doolittle, Send Hahn to Triple-A; Recall McBride

The Oakland A's reinstated left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle from the 15-day disabled list and recalled catcher Matt McBride from Triple-A Nashville, the club announced Friday. The A's also reinstated right-handed pitcher Jesse Hahn from the 15-day DL and optioned him to Nashville.

Doolittle was 2-2 with four saves and a 2.93 ERA in 35 relief appearances when he was placed on the 15-day disabled list June 30 retroactive to June 26 with a strained left shoulder. Opponents were batting .218 and he issued just eight walks against 35 strikeouts. Doolittle made six rehab appearances with Triple-A Nashville beginning Aug. 15 and compiled a 1.50 ERA, allowing a run on four hits and one walk while striking out 10 in 6.0 innings. He last pitched on Tuesday against Iowa, tossing one scoreless inning and allowing one hit while striking out two.

McBride joins the A's for the fourth time this year and batted .231 with two RBI in 15 games over his previous three stints. He started 11 games at catcher but also appeared in one game in right field. McBride also hit .267 with seven home runs and 30 RBI in 70 games with Nashville, including .295 in 26 games following his July 26 option from Oakland. He appeared in 46 games at catcher, 12 in right field, seven in left field and one at first base with the Sounds.

Hahn was placed on the 15-day disabled list August 5 with a strained right shoulder and went 0-1 with a 9.39 ERA in two rehab starts with Nashville on Aug. 16 and 31. He is 1-7 with a 4.32 ERA in 15 starts overall with the Sounds and has a 2-4 record and a 6.02 ERA in nine starts with Oakland.
