OAKLAND - The A's will be without Stephen Piscotty as they take aim at their eighth straight win Saturday afternoon against the Seattle Mariners.
Piscotty was a late scratch due to a stomach illness. Manager Bob Melvin was unsure if he will be back in the lineup for Sunday's series finale. The A's right fielder went 3-for-4 with a home run in Friday's 6-2 win.
Matt Olson moves up to the cleanup spot, with Mark Canha batting fifth. The pair hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning Friday night.
Meanwhile, Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager will make his season debut and bat sixth after missing the first 53 games with a torn tendon in his left hand. Seager hit 22 home runs last year and slashed .221/.273/.400. He has hit 20 or more home runs in seven consecutive seasons.
Veteran right-hander Mike Fiers will be on the hill for Oakland, trying to improve on his 3-3 record and 5.05 ERA. He has struggled against the Mariners in his career, going 2-2 with a 6.36 ERA in 10 starts.
Seattle will counter with left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. The 27-year-old rookie from Japan is already making his third start against Oakland this season. He is 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA in his first two starts.
