A's Vs. White Sox Lineups: Jurickson Profar Gets Start at Second Base

OAKLAND -- The A's return from the All-Star break Friday night as they open a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox at the Coliseum.

Oakland will send out its usual starting lineup, with one small exception -- Jurickson Profar will get the start at second base over Franklin Barreto and bat eighth in the order. A's manager Bob Melvin explained that he wanted another left-handed bat in the lineup and that Barreto would return for Saturday afternoon's contest.

Mike Fiers will be on the mound for Oakland in search of his 10th consecutive quality start. The right-hander has allowed three runs or fewer in 13 straight outings, lowering his season ERA to 3.87.

Fiers has also won six straight decisions to improve his record to 8-3 for the year. In six career starts against the White Sox, he is 2-0 with a 2.21 ERA.

Chicago will counter with veteran right-hander Iván Nova. The 32-year-old has struggled this season, going 4-7 with a 5.58 ERA in 18 starts. However, in five career appearances against Oakland, Nova is 2-0 with a 3.52 ERA.
