A's Will Celebrate Unique Culture of the East Bay on ‘510 Day'

OAKLAND -- The 510 area code. Three numbers some members of the East Bay call their home -- it's where the Oakland A's call home as well.

It's where no matter how small the crowd at the Coliseum is, you'll hear the drums that make so much noise, they offend opposing fans -- even fans watching from home, even visiting media has been known to take to social media to complain about the "nonsense."

That small section in the right-field bleachers signifies everything Oakland -- uniqueness nobody can mirror. And the A's themselves wanted to embrace everything the culture has to offer on "510 Day."

"I believe fireworks night is coming up -- I believe that's the best way to describe what's going on here," Dallas Braden told NBC Sports California. "What's been going on here is our own firework show each and every night with one of the most rabid fanbases you could ever have supporting you as a player and frankly as a fellow fan."

The fireworks Braden was referring to is a two-parter: The atmosphere the fans bring, and actual fireworks that will take place during "510 Day." Postgame "East Bay Hip-Hop Fireworks" will take place following the A's-Cleveland game on Friday night.

This is the conclusion of an already packed day including a hospital visit from a few of the A's players at the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Kaiser Medical Center in Oakland, a pregame festival in Championship Plaza which will host East-Bay-themed menus at the food trucks, an Oaklandish giveaway for fans, music soundings from DJ, and a photo booth.

I know -- it's going to be hella amazing.

The A's are also teaming up with the Baseball Tomorrow Fund and Pitch In For Baseball and Softball to host an equipment drive.

For the wittle bebes, there will be activities at the all-new Stomping Ground in right field for kids and families including airbrush tattoos (they're not real dad, just relax) and a balloon artist. And even an opportunity to sign up for a library card.

The A's will be walking up to various East Bay artists including Mac Dre, SWMRS, Fantastic Negrito, and more throughout the night.

And those postgame fireworks ... It'll be more of an experience than anything.

Fans will be in for a treat on the outfield grass with a show presented by Cal State East Bay featuring an integrated musical presentation by Bay Area DJ Mike Relm who is known for live performances that feature a series of audio mashups paired with video images according to an A's press release.

All in all, it'll be an eventful day celebrating the local community that only the 510 has to offer.
