A's Will Head to New York to Play Yankees in 2018 AL Wild Card Game

ANAHEIM -- It's official. The A's are heading to Yankee Stadium.

The New York Yankees pounded the rival Boston Red Sox 11-6 Friday night, and locked up home-field advantage for Wednesday's wild card game.

The A's and Yankees split six games during the regular season, with each team winning two of three at home. New York has the second-best home record in the majors at 53-28. However, Oakland is tied for the third-best road record at 46-32.

Home-field advantage hasn't actually meant much in the wild card game since MLB implemented it in 2012. In the American League, road teams have gone 3-3, while in the National League, the road squad has gone 4-2.

First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. PT Wednesday.
