Giants RHP Wins National League Player of the Week

After pitching 16 innings and surrendering just one run in that span, Jeff Samardzija has been named the National League Player of the Week. 

Last Monday against the Padres, the right-hander three his fourth-ever complete game shutout in a 3-0 win. He didn't walk anyone and struck out five. 

Samardzija followed that outing with seven innings of one-run baseball against the Cardinals. The Giants won that game 2-1 on the back of Samardzija and a home run by Nick Hundley in the 10th inning. Samardzjia struck out seven in that game. 

For the season, Samardzija is 9-12 with a 4.31 ERA in 28 starts. He's struck out 184 in 183.2 innings of work.
