Giants Top Prospect Arroyo Suffers Broken Hand

Christian Arroyo can't be any more unlucky. The Giants' top prospect returned from the Triple-A DL Saturday night with the Sacramento River Cats and was hit on the same injured left hand at the plate.

Arroyo suffered a broken left hand, Bruce Bochy announced to reporters in Pittsburgh Sunday and is scheduled to miss at least two months.

"You're looking at a couple of months if not longer," Bochy said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "It's broken pretty good."

Bochy is no doctor, but the news was clear at his first sight of Arroyo's X-rays.

"You know how hard X-rays are to see? Any of us can see this," Bochy said.

Arroyo, who turned 22 in May, hit just .192 with three home runs in 34 games with the Giants after his scorching hot start for Sacramento. The infielder has hit .400 with four more home runs in 24 games for the River Cats this season.

Bochy did not rule out a September return for Arroyo and hopes to see the promising young infielder back up in San Francisco by the end of the year.
