Giants Vs. Rockies Lineups: Pomeranz Looks to Lead Giants to Series Win

After a record-setting day in a doubleheader sweep, the San Francisco Giants will run it back as they try to take down the Colorado Rockies, who currently sit just a game ahead of the Giants in the standings. Drew Pomeranz will take the hill for San Francisco, looking to improve on his last start in which he surrendered four runs as the Giants fell in St. Louis.

The Giants have played themselves right into an intriguing gray area, as fans and media appear split on how the team should proceed with personnel. Coming into this season, general manager Farhan Zaidi was emphatic about the fact that this roster needed a dramatic overhaul and that he wasn't going to deem anyone untouchable. He's already made 14 trades since the calendar year began, and just about everyone believes he still has a few more to make.

But San Francisco has been as hot as any team in the league over the past few weeks, winning eight of their last ten games and scoring 96 runs in their last 12 games. This effort was punctuated Monday in what was the greatest single-game showing of offense since the Giants moved west. Brandon Crawford had eight RBI by himself, which was more runs than all but four teams in the MLB scored on Monday.

The Rockies will send Peter Lambert to the mound, and the former second-round pick will make his sixth start of his career and the first against the Giants. Most recently, he went five innings allowing four runs in a loss to the Astros on July 3.
