With the Giants headed to Colorado to begin a series on Monday, the team appears to be adding a fresh arm.
Dereck Rodriguez, the son of Hall of Fame catcher Ivan Rodriguez, posted on Instagram that he just received his first big league call up by the Giants.

The 25-year-old Rodriguez is in his first year with the Giants organization after spending the last seven seasons in the Twins system. Minnesota picked Rodriguez in the sixth round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He elected to become a free agent following last season and signed a minor league deal with the Giants in November.
In nine starts with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats this season, Rodriguez posted a 3.40 ERA and has struck out 53 batters in 50.1 innings.
Despite being drafted seven years ago, Rodriguez has been pitching for only five years. Prior to the 2014 season, Rodriguez converted from an outfielder to a pitcher. He hit just .216 over three seasons of Rookie ball.
The Giants haven't announced the promotion of Rodriguez, so a corresponding move is not known at this time.
