Krukow: Matt Moore Under Pressure as Giants Open Second Half

Madison Bumgarner is expected to return to the big league mound on Saturday and Bruce Bochy revealed Wednesday that Matt Cain would move to the bullpen as the long man.

"Cain can go into the bullpen because he can assume the role of long-man right now," Krukow said Thursday on KNBR. "Will he stay there? That depends on one guy – it depends on Matt Moore. Because right now, Matt Moore is struggling big time. He's going to have two or three starts to get himself on track in the second half. After that, you don't know.

"He just does not seem to be able to get right mechanically. And now there's going to be some pressure on him to do that."

Moore, 28, is 3-9 with a 6.04 ERA this year and has allowed a league-worst 66 earned runs.

Bochy hasn't named his rotation entering the second half, but Krukow speculated that the team could start with Jeff Samardzija on Friday before Bumgarner goes on Saturday, following with Johnny Cueto, Ty Blach and Moore.
