MLB Rumors: Giants, Astros ‘engaged' in Madison Bumgarner Trade Talks

With the July 31 MLB trade deadline slightly over 24 hours away at 1 p.m. PT, rumors are heating up. The latest includes longtime Giants ace Madison Bumgarner.

Yahoo's Tim Brown reported Tuesday morning the Giants and Astros are "engaged" in talks regarding a Bumgarner trade.

Sources recently told NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic that the feel within the organization and clubhouse is that Bumgarner will not get dealt. But anything can change the close the deadline gets.

The Astros have a strong farm system, including three players in MLB.com's top 100 -- outfielder Kyle Tucker (13), pitcher Forrest Whitley (17) and first baseman/outfielder Seth Beer (100). All three are no older than 22 years old and could help the Giants at the big-league level in the near future.

As the Giants have been the hottest team in baseball, it has seemed less likely they will trade Bumgarner. San Francisco is 17-5 in July and entered Tuesday 2 1/2 games back in the NL wild-card race.

The Astros (68-39), on the other hand, have World Series aspirations with the second-most wins in the game right now.
