MLB Rumors: Giants Unlikely to Trade Madison Bumgarner, ‘big Relievers'

No team has been included in as many trade rumors over the last month as the San Francisco Giants. With two of the supposed top trade targets at the deadline -- combined with what has been one of the best bullpens in baseball this season -- just about every team in contention has been rumored to be interested in someone wearing the Orange and Black.

MLB Network Insider Jon Morosi was on 95.7 The Game Monday morning, and spoke to the reported mindset of the Giants front office as we sit less than 48 hours from the MLB trade deadline.

"But I was told, at this point in time, that they are planning to keep Bumgarner," Morosi said. "They're planning to keep their big relievers as well. They may make a move but I would say it's a smaller chance."

After holding off the San Diego Padres for a 7-6 win Sunday afternoon, the Giants have now won their seventh consecutive series and have pulled within 2.5 games of the second wild-card spot in the NL.

"Based on what I was told by sources yesterday, the Giants are expecting to keep their big pitchers right now and to try and make a run at this thing between now and the end of the season," Morosi told the Jo, Lo, and Dibs show.

With the Giants supposedly now looking like a potential buyer at the deadline, they have several team needs that general manager Farhan Zaidi reportedly will be looking to upgrade.

The team has a travel day Monday and will open up a three-game set with the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday night, another team right on the fringes of playoff contention. The Phillies sit a game and a half ahead of San Francisco in the NL Wild Card standings, so if the team keeps up its winning ways, they could overtake yet another team in the standings before the week is over.
