SAN FRANCISCO -- After a slow week, the Giants appear to be making some strides in their bid to put Giancarlo Stanton in orange and black.
According to Craig Mish, a SiriusXM host based in South Florida, Giants executives were in Los Angeles on Thursday to meet with Stanton's representatives from the Wasserman Media Group.
The Giants have been forceful in their pursuit of Stanton throughout the offseason, but any meeting would represent a breakthrough and perhaps a sign that the Marlins are finally ready to swing a deal. Stanton has a full no-trade clause, but the Giants have gone through this process believing that he would ultimately waive it to come to San Francisco, and it appears they're getting a chance to make their case.
For his part, Stanton has not commented publicly about his preferences, although it's believed that the Los Angeles native would prefer to be close to home, with the Dodgers rumored to be his first choice.
