NBA Gameday: Cousins Looks to Dominate Aldridge Again

SACRAMENTO -- The Kings open their five game homestand on Wednesday night with one of the NBA’s elite franchises. San Antonio has defied all odds in their 40-plus seasons in the NBA, making the playoffs in all but four years. Sacramento on the other hand, has made it to the NBA postseason just 10 times since moving to the Capital City in 1985.

There are plenty of new faces in San Antonio, but the Spurs continue to mow through their regular season schedule with efficient offense and stymying defense. They spoiled the Kings home opener at the new  Golden 1 Center two weeks ago and now they’re back for more.

Sacramento has been all over the board early in the season. They are two or three bounces away from being above .500, but they have struggled to close out games, be it at home or on the road. Fresh off back-to-back losses to the Lakers and Trail Blazers, including a brutal overtime affair in Portland on Friday night, the Kings are looking to snap a seven-game skid against the Spurs dating back to November 2014.

MATCHUP TO WATCH

DeMarcus Cousins vs. LeMarcus Aldridge -- Cousins dominated this matchup in the second game of the season, scoring 37 points and grabbing 16 rebounds in the Kings’ 102-94 loss. Aldridge is fitting in nicely as the Spurs second option behind Kawhi Leonard. The duo form one of the best forward combos in the league, but Aldridge will have his hands full with Cousins.
