SACRAMENTO - The Kings continued their free agent spending Sunday morning. A source with knowledge of the situation has confirmed with CSN California that Sacramento has added versatile Garrett Temple to the squad. Temple can play the point guard, shooting guard and small forward positions, giving the Kings depth at multiple positions of need.
Temple, 30, spent the last four seasons with the Washington Wizards, spending most of his time at the small forward position. He played in a total of 80 games, including 43 starts for the Wiz. He averaged a career best 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds while knocking down 34.5 percent from 3-point range in 24.4 minutes per game.
Sacramento will likely ask Temple to play plenty of reserve point guard minutes early in the season, but then use him all over the floor.
This is the second tour of duty for Temple in Sacramento. He signed a 10-day contract in March of 2010, playing in five games for the Kings before joining the Spurs. Temple has played for six NBA teams in his his seven year career and even made a stop in Italy for a season.
Temple agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal with the Kings that will pay him $8 million each season and has a player option for the final season.
