A little over a month ago, the Raiders were fighting for a playoff spot, while the 49ers challenging the New York Giants for the No. 2 overall pick.
But a lot changed during a wild December. The Raiders lost four straight to finish with a disappointing 6-10 record. Down in Santa Clara, Jimmy Garoppolo took over as starter and led the 49ers to five straight wins to close the season with a surprising 6-10 record.
But not only did the Raiders and 49ers finish with the same record, but they also finished with identical .512 strength of schedules, which is used as the second tiebreaker for positioning in the NFL Draft.
So...in order to determine which team will pick No. 9 and which will get the No. 10 pick, their will be a coin toss.
Yes, a coin toss is the next tiebreaker after record and strength of sschedule.
We'll keep you posted when results of that important flip of the coin are revealed.
The #49ers and #Raiders will have a coin flip to determine the Nos. 9 and 10 draft picks. Both teams finished 6-10 and with strength of schedules of .512.— Matt Maiocco (@MaioccoNBCS) January 1, 2018
