McGloin Out With Shoulder Injury, Cook Takes Over for Raiders

DENVER – The Raiders first half went horribly wrong. They trailed 17-0 at halftime and are down to their third quarterback.

Matt McGloin left the game with a shoulder injury suffered in the second quarter. He was replaced by fourth-round rookie Connor Cook, who was active for the first time all year.

While McGloin was throwing a football on the sideline, Cook started the third quarter.

Derek Carr, the team's starter, suffered a broken fibula in last week's loss to Indianapolis. He had surgery to repair the break and is likely out for the season.

McGloin wasn't effective early on. He was 6-for-11 passing for 21 yards, and missed a few open receivers. He took a shot from Jared Crick that invoked a roughing the passer penalty, and hurt the team's primary backup.

Cook entered the game on the second quarter's final offensive series.

The Raiders announced that McGloin was questionable to return.
