NFL Rumors: Amari Cooper Targeted by Cowboys in Possible Trade With Raiders

The Dallas Cowboys badly need a wide receiver, so they're reportedly doing their due diligence on Amari Cooper before possibly trading for him, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday, citing league sources.

The Oakland Raiders reportedly are seeking a first-round draft pick in exchange for Cooper, a former Pro Bowl pick who hasn't performed as expected in 2017 and 2018. He has just 22 catches for 280 yards and one touchdown this season, and he suffered a concussion in last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks in London.

Cooper is just 24 and himself a first-round pick, so a turnaround is possible. The Cowboys could take a chance on him, with Allen Hurns, Cole Beasley and Deonte Thompson as their listed starters and not producing much. There isn't much depth behind them, either, with Terrance Williams out for the season, and Tavon Austin also injured.

To that end, the Cowboys are calling people who know Cooper to learn more about him before possibly making a trade, Schefter reported.

Schefter also reported the Washington Redskins and the Indianapolis Colts, among other teams, have called the Raiders on Cooper.

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 30, and it's apparent the Raiders aren't going anywhere this season after starting 1-5. So, moving Cooper would make sense, as long as the price is to Oakland's liking.
