Blues' Tarasenko wins NHL '17 cover over Pavelski

EA Sports on Wednesday officially announced the player who will don the cover of NHL '17, and it's Blues star Vladimir Tarasenko.

Sharks captain Joe Pavelski was also in the running, and was the only player in the Stanley Cup Final to be in consideration.

San Jose went through Tarasenko's Blues en route to their first Cup Final appearance in franchise history. Pavelski also led the Stanley Cup Playoffs with 14 goals. He was third in points with 23, trailing teammates Logan Couture and Brent Burns.

Tarasenko was fifth with nine playoff goals.

"It's an incredible honor to represent my teammates and all the Blues fans around the world on the cover this year," said Vladimir Tarasenko, St. Louis Blues. "As a player, it's a big deal to be fan selected for something like the Cover Vote, and I'm excited to be involved in the game this year."
