Couture Scores in Canada's Tune-up Win Over Team USA

Team Canada on Saturday got even with Team U.S.A., scoring five goals en route to a World Cup of Hockey exhibition win.

Canada struck first, with the Sharks' tandem creating the first highlight of the game.

Center Joe Thornton connected with teammate Logan Couture, who put it in the back of the net at the end of a power play to spot Canada a 1-0 lead.

Islanders star John Tavares followed that goal up, putting one past Devils starter Corey Schneider to provide Canada a 2-0 cushion.

Jay Bouwmeester piled on to make it 3-0, Canada over U.S.A.

America finally got on the scoreboard when Ryan McDonagh of the Rangers scored on netminder and 2015-16 wins leader Braden Holtby.

Capitals defenseman John Carlson accounted for U.S.A.'s second goal, cutting the lead to 3-2 in the second period.

Avalanche star Matt Duchene returned fire, scoring on U.S.A. to push Canada's lead back to two goals.

Tavares scored his second goal of the game, which turned out to be the game-winner for Canada.
