NHL Draft grades: Sharks earn C with their five picks

The San Jose Sharks didn't pick until No. 60 overall in the NHL Draft this year. The experts at RotoWorld graded their five selections.

    San Jose Sharks

    Grade: C

First Round Selection(s): None (Top pick was Dylan Gambrell at 60th overall)

The San Jose Sharks sent their first-round pick in 2016 to Boston in the Martin Jones trade. That part of the deal worked out well for the Sharks, as Jones proved to be a solid number one goalie in 2015-16 and he nearly willed the team to a Stanley Cup championship.

The Sharks were inactive at the draft until pick No. 60 when they chose University of Denver forward Dylan Gambrell. He notched 17 goals and 47 points in 41 games in 2015-16 as a freshman after he went undrafted a year ago.

Gambrel projects as a two-way center who may be a third-liner at the NHL level, but his selection was seen as a reach by San Jose.

The Sharks didn't call another name until round four when Noah Gregor was tabbed. He compiled 28 goals and 73 points in 72 games for Moose Jaw of the WHL during his rookie year in 2015-16. Gregor could be an intriguing pickup to watch out for in the coming years.
