With NHL free agency just getting underway, it looks like the Sharks are close to locking up another key member of their core.
The Sharks reportedly are close to re-signing restricted free agent Timo Meier, TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported Monday.
Hearing that the San Jose Sharks are closing in on re-signing RFA star winger Timo Meier, huge signing for them. They kept UFA star D Erik Karlsson off the UFA market and now are about to lock up a key core player.— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 1, 2019
The deal reportedly would be a fairly team-friendly one, per LeBrun.

With the departure of Joe Pavelski, Joonas Donskoi and Gustav Nyquist appearing more and more likely, this is a big keep for San Jose.
Meier, 22, is coming off a season in which he notched 66 points (30 goals, 36 assists) and was 17th in five-on-five goals and 20th in five-on-five points.
