Sharks Give Vegas a Run, Can't Beat Golden Knights

BOX SCORE

The Sharks and Golden Knights traded chances. Both teams blew leads. But Vegas ultimately led last, thanks to James Neal's game-winning goal with 4:50 left in the third period, and the Golden Knights skated away with a 5-3 win, their first ever at SAP Center.

Joe Pavelski (two) and Timo Meier scored for San Jose. Erik Haula and William Karlsson continued their career years with goals of their own, their 21st and 29th, respectively, and Brayden McNabb tied the game with just over 10 minutes left in regulation. Jonathan Marchessault sent the fans to the exits with an empty-netter with 1:20 left.

Next up for the Sharks are two more games against Pacific Division rivals: A date with the Edmonton Oilers at SAP Center on Saturday, and a one-day trip to Anaheim to face the Ducks on Sunday.
