Sharks Open Training Camp on September 23

The shortest offseason in Sharks franchise history now has an official end date.

San Jose will open training camp on Sept. 23 at Sharks Ice, as the club prepares to defend its Western Conference championship. Practice begins at 9:30 a.m., and all sessions will be open to the public.

An official training camp roster will be revealed at a later date.

Several regulars will not be there for the first on-ice session, as eight players are set to compete in the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto. Joe Thornton (Canada), Logan Couture (Canada), Marc-Edouard Vlasic (Canada), Brent Burns (Canada), Joe Pavelski (USA), Joonas Donskoi (Finland), Tomas Hertl (Czech Republic) and Mikkel Boedker (Team Europe) will all be involved in the tournament, which runs from Sept. 17 – Oct. 1.

As usual, the Sharks will hold a rookie camp in the week leading up to NHL training camp. That begins on Sept. 15 in San Jose before the youngsters head to Westminster, Colorado to take part in a mini-tournament against the Avalanche and Ducks prospects from Sept. 17 – 19.

The Sharks open their season at home on Oct. 12 against Los Angeles.
