Sharks Will Open Training Camp With 64-man Roster

While several of the Sharks' premier players are still competing at the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto, the rest of the group is set to open training camp at Sharks Ice in San Jose at the end of the week.

The club revealed a 64-man training camp roster on Tuesday, with the first group set to hit the ice on Friday at 9:30 a.m. The roster features 36 forwards, 23 defensemen and five goaltenders.

Seven of those players will not be there for at least the first few days, as Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Brent Burns, Joonas Donskoi and Mikkel Boedker are playing in the World Cup. The tournament could run until Oct. 1.

A scrimmage on Sunday highlights the first weekend of camp. It begins at 11:50 on the South Rink of the practice facility, with seating limited to the first 250 guests in line.
