Can Kevin Durant Get Better? ‘He's a Guy I've Been Studying Lately'

Hey Kevin Durant -- "Do you think you can still get better and how? Or are you at the point where you have peaked as a basketball player and now you just have to maintain it?"

This was a fan question posed to Durant on The Bill Simmons Podcast.

"I mastered a lot of the game individually," Durant said. "I feel like I've mastered how to score from every area and how to make a shot from every spot on the floor ... but now it's about how many different combinations can I add? I got a lot more to learn.

"Triple moves, footwork. DeMar DeRozan probably got the best footwork I've seen in a long, long time. I've been trying to watch him to see how he does it."

DeRozan averaged a career-high 27.3 points per game last season, while shooting just under 47 percent from the field.

Durant averaged 25.1 points per game last season, while shooting 53.7 percent from the field.

DeRozan shot 26.6 percent from deep. Durant shot 37.5 percent from distance

DeRozan attempted 8.7 free throws per game. Durant got to the line 6.2 times per night.

DeRozan was All-NBA Third Team. Durant took home All-NBA Second Team honors.

"He's just way more athletic than I am first of all, so his body can move a little different," Durant said. "But his pace is amazing.

"He's a guy I've been studying lately just because of his footwork ... I think that's where I can get better -- trying to beat my defender, not off of just length and athleticism."
