Kerr Admits He Deserved Fine, Pleads for NBA to Call More Travels

Warriors coach Steve Kerr on Monday conceded that he expected the fine he was assessed in the wake of criticizing NBA officiating last week.

Kerr on Sunday was slapped with a $25,000 fine for comments he made Thursday in a radio interview with KNBR 680. He specifically referenced a play, from Wednesday’s win at Toronto, on which Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan took at least three steps.

“I deserved it,” Kerr told reporters after the team’s shootaround in Indianapolis. “I know I’m not supposed to talk about that stuff publically, so I’m not surprised by the fine. Like I said, I probably earned it. I shouldn’t speak out publicly about that stuff.

“But I do hope that the league will continue to look at it. It’s something I know all the coaches are frustrated by. I’m not complaining about the other team. I’m not complaining about bad calls. I’m just complaining about the rule being enforced.

“So hopefully, they’ll make strides on that. But I know I should not have said it publicly.”

Kerr said he could “literally put together a blooper reel” of traveling calls missed by NBA officials.
