Warriors Group Chat Shared Morey's ‘they Are Not Unbeatable' Comments

The Warriors won the 2017 title on June 12.

Shortly thereafter, ESPN's Zach Lowe posted a column that included the following quotes from Rockets GM Daryl Morey.

"They are not unbeatable. There have been bigger upsets in sports history. We are going to keep improving our roster.

"We are used to long odds. If Golden State makes the odds longer, we might up our risk profile and get even more aggressive. We have something up our sleeve."

On Thursday, Clay Skipper of GQ posted a profile on Draymond Green.

One element of the article details a conversation between Skipper and Draymond from back on June 22:

"It's so funny sitting back and watching this sh**," he (Draymond) starts, before pausing to pull his phone out of his jeans, looking through the Golden State Warriors' group chat.

He wants to relay something that Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey had said in an interview, reacting to the Warriors' title. The team had texted it to each other. Then he pauses, scoffing at Morey's comments.

"What the f**k are you talking about? They are really trying to rethink their whole strategy" -- here he bumps a table repeatedly with his hand for emphasis, getting excited -- "because teams know they don't have a f**king clue."

Morey did have something up his sleeve, as on June 28, the Rockets acquired Chris Paul.

Draymond's comments came before the Thunder traded for Paul George and Carmelo Anthony, and before the Cavs shipped Kyrie Irving to Boston.

Draymond also said the following to GQ:

"It's pretty f**king sick to see how everybody is just in a f**king panic about what to do. You sit back and think, like, these motherf***ers, they know. That's the fun part about it: They know they don't stand a chance."

Draymond and the Warriors open their quest for back-to-back titles next Tuesday night when they host the Rockets.
