Warriors center Damian Jones underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair his torn left pectoral muscle, the team announced on Friday.
He will begin rehabbing in six weeks, but there is no timetable for his return and the season may have come to an end for the young big man.
Jones suffered the injury last Saturday in the Warriors' road loss to the Pistons. Jones exited late in the third quarter after getting tangled up with Detroit's center Andre Drummond and the next day, an MRI revealed the worst news.
The 23-year-old started 22 of the 24 games he has played this year. He is avering 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
While Jones is out for at least an extended period of time, the Warriors most likely will not be on the look for another center. They are using Kevon Looney, Jordan Bell and at times, Jonas Jerebko for now.
In better news at the center position, Draymond Green should return soon from his toe injury and DeMarcus Cousins will begin practicing with the Santa Cruz Warriors soon so he can go through an intense workout.
