On July 4, 2016, Kevin Durant announced that he would be signing with the Warriors.
But it sounds like he made the decision to join Golden State a couple weeks prior.
As Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins wrote on Monday night -- about an hour after the Warriors lost Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, Draymond Green texted the following message to Durant:
"See what we're missing. We need you. Make it happen."
Durant's response: "I'm ready. Let's do this."
The Warriors dropped Game 7 on Sunday, June 19.

On Friday, July 1, Golden State's contingent met with Durant in the Hamptons.
Three days later, he broke the news to the basketball world.
And as Draymond Green said this week, he is '99 percent sure' the Warriors wouldn't have landed Durant if they won the championship last year.
