Evander Kane's Lawyer Responds to Lawsuit Filed by Un-named Woman

Evander Kane's lawyer acknowledged a lawsuit "alleging a breach of contract" in a statement on Thursday morning, responding to a TMZ report that the Sharks forward was being sued by a woman for failing to pay for a third abortion.

"We've received notice of the filing of a lawsuit by someone referred to as Jane Doe alleging a breach of contract against Evander Kane," Buffalo criminal defense attorney Paul Cambria said in a statement. "We firmly believe that this lawsuit is baseless both factually and legally. We will aggressively defend this claim in court on Evander's behalf and assert all applicable counterclaims."

TMZ reported the existence of the lawsuit on Wednesday. In the suit, a woman referred to as Jane Doe alleged that Kane impregnated her a third time, and offered her $3 million for another abortion, according to the report. Kane did not pay, according to Doe. She is suing Kane for $6 million, according to the report.

At the Sharks' morning skate on Thursday, Kane denied the allegations to reporters.

In July 2016, Kane was sued by a woman in Erie County, N.Y. accusing him of seriously injuring her. He had been cleared of criminal charges in March of that year, after it was first investigated as a possible sexual assault. Kane filed a counterclaim in August 2016.

In May 2017, a judge in Buffalo dismissed charges against Kane following a plea agreement. The charges stemmed from a June 2016 incident at a bar in Buffalo. Kane denied allegations that he grabbed two women and pulled their hair.
