One former Giant already gave us the "Shot Heard 'Round the World" in 1951 with Bobby Thompson's game-winning homer against the Dodgers to win the NL pennant. Less than a week ago, ex-Giants manager Bruce Bochy gave us the "One More Shot Heard 'Round the Bay Area."
Nearly one month after his retirement, Bochy went on Mad Dog Sports Radio and told Chris Russo that he would "love to have one more shot" as a manger. The comment caught the attention of baseball fans everywhere and led to plenty of speculation.
On Wednesday, Bochy clarified his comments.
"I was having fun with it more than anything," Bochy told The Athletic's Tim Kawakami on the "TK Show." "Watching the postseason, I said something like, 'Yeah, I could get my juices going, I'd like one more shot.' Now, I didn't mean that, like, I'm looking to manage next year, because I don't know how I'm going to react as we go into spring training and as I get into this.
"Of course you're gonna watch the playoffs and there's nothing like it. It's why we do what we do -- it's what you play for."

Bochy first managed in the big leagues in 1995 when he took over for the Padres. He was 40 years old, eight years removed from his days catching in San Diego. Bochy now is 64, and is going into his first offseason in over 25 years where he won't be a manager.
At least not for now.
The famed skipper pushed pause on his desire to keep managing in the majors, but the key words there is pause. That still is all this might be.
"I don't know for sure. I don't," Bochy said to Kawakami on his future as a manager. "I probably shouldn't have said it like that because my phone blew up from my friends. Even my wife called and said, 'Oh, really. You're gonna manage again?'
"That was more me having fun with it. So no, I'm not looking to manage right now."

Baseball is in Bochy's blood. He played in 358 games over his nine-year major league career and managed over 4,000. Even though he's stepping away from managing in the majors next year, he's expected to be Team France's skipper in next spring's World Baseball Classic qualifier.
Right now. Remember those words. Bochy received the necessary sendoff in San Francisco as a future Hall of Famer, but if he gets the itch, expect him to find his way back in the game.
