Fadol Brown Says Goodbye, Raiders Sign Another Pass Rusher to Help D-Line

The Raiders are shuffling some bodies along the defensive line, and signed defensive end Damontre Moore his agent announced Tuesday afternoon.

That could help an area where several players are nicked up, including ends Arden Key, Shilique Calhoun and Maurice Hurst.

Fadol Brown was healthy and active on Sunday, but said farewell to the Raiders on Instgram two days later, signaling he's the corresponding move in this transaction.

Brown was active for the first time in four weeks Sunday, and was guilty of two penalties. That included an offsides call on 3rd-and-5, when the Raiders earned a stop. The infraction extended a drive that resulted in the game-deciding touchdown, and infuriated head coach Jon Gruden.

"We can't do that. We can't have penalties," Gruden said Monday. "… I've always appreciated his effort. He loves to play, he loves to compete, but he's had some penalties. I think he had two yesterday. You have to watch the ball. You can't see or hear too much, you have to watch the ball. That hurt us yesterday."

Moore spent time with the Raiders during the 2016 offseason and early portions of training camp. The 26-year old bounced around the league after spending most of three seasons with the New York Giants, and was suspended two games in 2017 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

He'll get a chance to rush the passer as the Raiders try to generate some heat over the final four games. He plays a position where he should be able to step in and play right away, and he might have to if injuries to Calhoun and/or key linger.

Brown spent most of last season on the practice squad, but a strong 2018 preseason earned a spot on the 53-man roster. He was uneven at times, outright struggled at other when active during the regular season. Coaches clearly decided he wasn't part of the long-term plan and moved in a different direction.
